
What is Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)?
EFT, or tapping as it is also known, is based on the idea that negative experiences and thoughts disrupt the body’s energy system and that this disruption causes the symptoms that bring people to therapy.
EFT works to realign the disrupted energy meridians and address underlying emotional issues to aid healing. It is helpful in healing victims of trauma and abuse, people with fears and phobias, panic and anxiety, depression, addictions and compulsions. As well as being a spiritual and emotional healer, EFT provides relief for a wide range of physical symptoms including headaches, pain management and weight. Often physical symptoms clear up immediately or begin to heal when underlying emotional drivers such as anger, guilt or fear have been cleared. Problems often have different aspects which need to be addressed for complete relief.
The fingertips are used to perform a tapping routine on the head, face, hands and upper torso to stimulate certain meridian energy points. The client with the help of the therapist, talks through an issue while doing the tapping sequence, starting with negatives, and ending on positives. It brings about awareness and relief, integrating thoughts and emotions together with the physical body. Like peeling the layers of an onion, tapping works to release various emotions caused by various issues and problems in life.
EFT/tapping would have to be one of the most effective, simple and easy to learn tools around. Clients learn how to tap and verbalise their emotional issues.
